Pálos70 Pilgrimage Kemence – Márianosztra 11.10.2020 Report

After a long preparation, a pilgrimage event joining the Pálos70 performance tour took place on the section of the route surveyed during the project between Kemence and Márianosztra, organized by the experts of Mária Út Public Benefit Association and the municipality of Palást on Sunday, 11 October 2020.
The aim of the event was to implement a pilot program that, based on the route, natural and cultural, religious values surveyed within the project, could be a real tourist attraction in the future, contributing for the area to join in the pilgrimage bloodstream, according to the project objectives.
In addition to the professional implementers, the event was attended by 15 pilgrims.
After the meeting and registration in Márianosztra, which was announced at 7 am, the group arrived in Kemence with a transfer provided to the participants, where János Pongrácz, the mayor of the settlement and the parish priest József Szabó greeted and sent the pilgrims on their way. A part of the group joined those coming from Márianosztra here. Volunteer Dániel Vásárhelyi provided a continuous live check-in of the event on the surfaces of radio network Mária Rádió.
Halfway through the more than 21-kilometer-long route, at the Kisirtáspuszta narrow-gauge railway station, the organizers prepared a resting point, where in addition to a short rest, the participants could take refreshments (tea, water, glucose, and bakery products). Continuing their journey, they joined the participants of the Pálos70 tour from Esztergom in Márianosztra, with whom they could take part in a group tour and historical presentation in the Church of Our Lady of Hungary, and then in the closing Mass of the event. The day ended with a joint one-course meal provided by the organizers and the sharing of summarizing and concluding thoughts.
The Pálos70 pilgrimage event was organised within the framework of the Interreg V-A Slovakia – Hungary Cooperation Programme, ID number SKHU / WETA / 1901 / 1.1 / 029, PILGRIM EXPERIENCES IN THE BORDER REGION project, with the cooperation of the collaborating partners the MUNICIPALITY OF PALÁST and MÁRIA ÚT PUBLIC BENEFIT ASSOCIATION.
